Human-Dog Problem Tree - PART ONE
Lets starts with two basic assumptions.
-
There is more information now on human-dog relationship then
ever before and its easier to access then ever. Most of the information is free. -
Despite all this, human-dog relationship has never been in a
worse predicament. For many dogs and people, the living situation is
equivalent to a war zone; resulting in dogs being sent to a shelter and
later executed.

Dog professionals (by that I mean dog trainers, TV personalities, authors, etc) are
unable to relate certain type of information to their clients (dog owners and
consumers of such information). Not because they (dog professionals) don’t
want to but because they can’t. And not because they don’t know it but
because they don’t see it.

The Nature of Modern Existence… and Dogs
I want this entry to serve as an introduction to the second branch of the Human-Dog problem tree.
There are two foundational principles affecting our relationship with dogs that are directly related to the conditions inherent in the nature of modern living:
- Our modern lives are misaligned with our biology as well as our psychology.
- We are –as a society- in a transitional phase.
Let’s examine the biological misalignment first.

Human-Dog Problem Tree - PART NINE
This article continues our exploration of the second branch of Human-Dog problem tree.
In the first section of the series, I've laid out the misalignment of our biology and its effects on human-dog relationship.
In the second section, I've laid out how modern day living puts us out of balance with our psychology which affect our relationship with ourselves as well as everything and everyone around us. Dogs make this imbalance really apparent.
In this section, I will talk about a transitional nature of today's society.

Dogs: Our Connection With the Past
I've decided to present this portion of the Human-Dog Problem Tree using concrete examples of modern life which are working against our biological nature, and then present a way in which dogs can help us get past it. Unfortunately, there are thousands of these examples and it would be impossible to list them all; so we will focus on the principles of the matter and use concrete examples as case-studies. Lets get started.
Problem: We are made to run but we either dont or suffer greatly when we do.
Solution: Education, unlearning and dogs.

Dogs: Our Connection with the Future
In keeping with the promise from the previous article, I will present this portion with a concrete example of the problem, and then then present a way in which dogs can help us get past it.
Some of the ground work for this article has been laid out in the Human-Dog NoME (Nature of Modern Existence) branch of the Problem Tree primer which can be found here

The Nature of UnBeginner's Mind (NoUM) branch of the Human-Dog Problem Tree.
It's been over a week since I posted Part 2 of the UnBeginner's Mind series. I've been trying to figure out a way to conclude the series that is fulfilling and meaningful, for both myself and you, the reader.
In Part 1 we've talked about the army brute-forcing their way into your Beginner's Mind. We also talked about Buddhist's practitioners engaging in the process in a less forceful way.
In Part 2 we've talked about the fact that most of what we know and learn in our life we learn by the age of five. Not coincidentally, our mind is in very much a Beginner's state during those first few years.
In Part 3 I'm stalling for time trying to figure out how to conclude the series. :-)
I think I got it!!!
